Department Description IM/Presence/VoIP - Includes instant messaging, Voice/Video over IP verticals
Scope of Responsibilities/Expectations Responsibilities:
Lead for Telepathy based IM/VoIP framework
Lead effort to design and implement new features based on RFCs and other standards
Troubleshooting complex issues in instant messaging and VoIP communication
Work collaboratively with team to implement solutions across the application/UI and protocol/multimedia framework
Specific Knowledge/Skills Skills Required :
Good knowledge of TCP/IP and application protocols (preferably IM protocols)
Good Knowledge of VoIP protocols RTP, RTSP, SDP, Gtalk, SIP etc.
Experience in
1. VoIP protocols RTP, RTSP, SDP, Gtalk, SIP etc.
2. GStreamer framework
3. C/C++ multi-threaded programming on UNIX
4. Object Oriented Concepts
General Networking knowledge (eg. NAT, DNS, TCP/IP, ping, DHCP, telnet, protocol analyzers)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Good troubleshooting skills
Skills Desired:
Experience in
1. Video delivery protocols such as RTP/RTSP, IGMP, Flash RTMP, HTTP Streaming
2. Farsight framework
3. Design/Implementation of application protocols preferably IM protocols(XMPP, Yahoo, AIM, MSN)
Technical knowledge of video protocols and technologies e.g., IP-networking, video compression, encoding, and signaling protocols e.g H.264, MPEG 2/4, RTSP, RTP, transcoders, etc) capacity planning, performance engineering
Background in audio and video compression/codecs such as AAC, VC-1, H.264, MPEG, VPx codecs
Working experience with glib / gobject and d-bus
Experience with Mobile media applications

Exp : 6-8yrs
