Role Summary/Purpose
This position is a key member of the Cell Technology Group responsible for supporting New Product Introduction through Innovation, R&D, technology evaluation and advance prototyping.
Essential Responsibilities
The Senior Software Engineer will work closely with product engineering teams, clinical experts and architects to analyze forthcoming product features and to provide technical solutions. The Senior Software Engineer must be passionate about technology, problem solving and software development with a drive to try out new technologies. The Senior Software Engineer must have systems level thinking, strong analytical capabilities and willingness to learn complex systems quickly. The Senior Software Engineer must be a self starter with ability to build working relationships with external teams and ability to work effectively in complex รข€" matrixed organizations.
Duties Include (but not limited to)
- Lead and Execute software design, development & prototyping activities for various Advance Technology Programs
- Interact with global product engineering teams and architects to share ideas, identify, evaluate and prototype new capabilities and solutions
- Collect and maintain program requirements, analyze requirements and present solutions / technology options
- Investigate and analyze new technologies
- Develop proof-of-concept software that demonstrates feasibility of new technologies and features
- Hands on software design and development
- Create and maintain usecases, workflow analysis, design documentation, trade-off analysis
- Collaborate with product engineering teams to fully transition Advance Technology Programs to NPI programs
- Stay up-to-date on healthcare industry standards, initiatives and IT trends to help drive those into the product suite
- Work with little or no supervision and technical guidance
- Deliver results in a dynamic environment with evolving customer needs
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related field
- 6+ Years of progressive experience in software engineering and application design and development
- Demonstrated broad exposure to HW/SW systems and technical depth one or more technical areas
- Demonstrated hands on application design and development
- Experience in Agile software development or iterative development methodologies
- Expertise in object oriented design methodology, various Java/ J2EE and/ or .NET technologies
- Experience working with databases and application integration technologies
- Demonstrated understanding of the entire product development cycle
- Experience in industry standard design principles, frameworks and patterns
- Demonstrated experience working with multiple functional areas in a business
Desired Characteristics
- Experience developing or integrating Medical / Healthcare IT products
- Experience in User Experience and UI technologies like Ajax, WPF and Flash
- Experience in Software R&D, technology evaluation and advance prototyping projects
- Experience in Webservices, EAI, SOA, ESB technologies
- Experience in Windows / UNIX / Linux operating systems
- Published technical papers or authored whitepapers in the area of expertise.
