Oracle Clinical Technical Specialist

Location: Groton, CT

Duration: 6 month

Rate: $50-55

Responsibilities: provide technical consultation for Oracle Clinical/Oracle Onsite/Thesaurus Management System (OC/RDC/TMS) implementation, including new initiatives and solutions, and business as usual (BAU) work.
New Initiatives and Solutions

Work closely with Application Architect and Application Engineer in Solutions Delivery group to implement long term OC/RDC/TMS reliability.
Work streams in this area may include upgrading infrastructure/platform that hosts the application, improving Oracle product quality (technology stack and business functions), and data warehouse solution in stabilizing the transactional system.

BAU

Continuous Improvement Projects:
Manage and implement system availability and performance improvement.
Work streams in this area may include system monitoring, performance/load testing, system simplification, capacity enhancement, and any identified work effort in raising OC/RDC/TMS uptime and performance.
Provide insight on application strength and weakness, their implications on IT maintenance and business use, and recommend remediation/improvement.

Ongoing BAU Work:
Technical coordination of all work streams and BAU routines to ensure their synergy and benefits; Foresee risks and provide mitigations.
Technical planning and preparation of environment required by each work stream and BAU major version upgrades.
Quality oversight of all technical work to warrantee system integrity and data integrity. The work includes, but not limit to, infrastructure configuration changes, application customizations, and upstream and downstream data integration. The work can be performed by internal resources or external vendors.
Monitor system growth and engage related IT groups in capacity planning/increase for BAU growth and other source of growth such as acquisition integration.
Liaison to IT service groups, downstream applications owners, and external vendors in technical engagement and collaborations.
Technical contact to business unit in presenting technical solutions and addressing questions/concerns; Involve and work with business effectively to deliver, e.g. develop business processes for performance testing.
Technical communication with Oracle in explaining issues, understanding Oracles solutions, and their impact or benefit to Participate in OC/RDC/TMS focus group discussions ( business, BI, BMS, PPD and Oracle) for product improvement efforts. (business, BI, BMS, PPD and Oracle)
Accountable when called upon in resolving production crisis, although not responsible for day to day application support.
Participate internal system audit and answer questions.
Timely reporting to management

Qualifications

Technical skills:

Strong software engineering and development experience (10 + years) in pharmaceutical industry to support clinical trial operations, especially work with large and complex COTS products.
At least 7 years of OC/RDC/TMS implementation experience in a global installation similar to ; Work experience with OC/RDC/TMS at least from 4.0 up to current version 4.6.
Expert on OC/RDC/TMS architecture, technology, application components, APIs, business functions, and customization options.
Outstanding knowledge on OC data model and database structure; Accurate interpretation of business data and their relationship; Ability to review various data extraction scripts and input on their optimization.
specific experiences on Oracle Clinical replication, instances consolidation, acquisition integration and divestiture, and data archival.
Ability to analyze business requirements and translate into technical requirements/solutions.
Broad knowledge of clinical trial applications that interfaces with Oracle Clinical, safety, trial management, registry, patient enrollment, CRF image management, data visualization, ETL tools, data warehouse, and reporting and analysis etc., and their implementation at client.
Solid knowledge of business process and practice in clinical trial patient data management from study start up to closeout; Exceptional knowledge on patient data operations.

Superb analytical skills in developing thought process, fact/data seeking, hands-on research, and making knowledgeable decisions in the normal as well as urgent/critical situations.
Dedicated and committed with a track record of business deliveries.
Excellent communication skills in articulating technical content to both technical and non technical audience.
Independent and self driven with little supervision and guidance in assuming the responsibilities.
Demonstrated team leadership skills.
