Java Analyst Programmer - Permanent or Contract

Our client, a leading national financial services organisation is
seeking talented Java developers - both Core Java and more leading edge
technologies.

The company's Equity Markets Group comprises the Bank's principal equity
trading, market-making, product origination, structuring, equity based
managed funds, hedge funds, warrants and derivatives sales and
distribution activities. The Group has offices in Australia, Hong Kong,
Japan, South Korea, South Africa, Europe and Brazil.

We are seeking an enthusiastic analyst programmer to join the EMG
information technology team. You will be co-located with the business in
a fast paced and changing environment. The position involves working
closely with the business delivering front and back office solutions.
You will need to have strong problem solving abilities and a keen
interest and experience in Java programming and OO design. It will also
be advantageous to have an interest in equity derivatives trading,
finance and mathematics.

This is a second level business-facing support-development position for
tactical development across the entire suite of applications that the
team produces; as an integral member of the development team.

Technical requirements:

* Strong programming and design skills in Java (required) *
Strong programming and design skills in C++ (desirable) * Enterprise
Java, J2EE and CORBA/RMI * Exposure to open-source tools such as
Eclipse, JUnit and Hibernate * Interest in design patterns, Agile
and XP * Strong relational database experience (ideally Sybase)
* Experience of at least one OO method (ideally UML) * Good
development knowledge on UNIX (ideally Solaris 8)

Professional requirements:

* University degree in engineering, computer science or equivalent
* Extensive application development experience * Excellent problem
solving & communication skills * Ability to work well under pressure
to provide timely and accurate solutions to systems problems *
Financial markets experience desirable
